Manchester United have bought Van Persie (confirmed).

I'm gobsmacked.

I'm surprised too. I would have thought he was too high maintenance.

If you mean psychologically then Man U & Fergie will deal with that. There is a history of stars discovering that Football, Club & Team are bigger than any individual, going back to Beckham & beyond. If you mean from an injury POV, then I guess Man U are as well equipped to deal with that as anyone.

I'm just surprised because we need a young midfielder, not an old striker (we have those in abundance, even with Owen gone).

I suppose you would say I mean psychological. I was thinking of his ego.

I suppose I will tolerate him now. I usually stop hating players once they've left the other North London club. One exception though was Vieira and I continue to detest him.

These days I even like Paul Merson. He always make me laugh on Soccer Saturday. It's a shame the other pundits don't take him more seriously. He has been known to make some very pertinent comments.

Robin's London flat burned down last night. Police suspect arson.

Saw a Man Utd team last week with Powell, Macheda, and bebe in it Playing the Mighty Iron

Odd thing I realised from skill levels who the first 2 were, but for a £7 Million plus player I couldn't pick bebe out from the other Kids, he's league 1 standard at best

Keith,

I haven't seen Powell, but Bebe has underwhelmed on a couple of occasions. Have invested in a season ticket this year.

Powell looks raw and probably needs a season in the reserves to bulk up and get up to PL speed.

I don't wanna see him go like Phil Jones - Pushed too far too Soon.

GAWD we need a centre back, Cos Carrick ain't, in fact I'm not sure what he is

That's true too. RvP is another Ruud, & the Japanese is looking an inspired buy but where is the new Keane?

I'll settle for that - I guess MUTV will get a lot of income from out East as well, so it's a double plus.

Begin to wonder if Blades should be banned

SAF won't allow Uniteds youngsters to wear them he says it causes lots of ankle and foot injuries to the wearers

For the first time in nearly 60 years I find I cannot summon up any interest in football.

I think I'm still disgusted at the departure of Harry and the installation of AVB who has made a very ignominious start to his reign.

After Saturday's performance, I'm beginning to think we might just have a chance with AVB.

(with apologies to Nick - but it hasn't happened for over 23 years so I'm sure you'll excuse me)

Special thanks to Chelsea for winning on Saturday too. :D

That disinterest was pretty shortlived!

And it may well come back again. I just can't take to AVB.

What a great day it was for Spurs yesterday. Chelsea lost so are only 3 points ahead of Spurs now. Swansea beat Arsenal. An Arsenal defeat is always good for Spurs' fans morale. Didn't do much for Arsenal's chairman though. He had an M.I. last night. And of course Stoke beat West Brom which brought their goal difference down to 5 - the same as Spurs who have scored more goals.

It was great to see Spurs go up to 4th and Arsenal down to 10th.

I doubt things will always go so well but I really enjoyed Match of the Day this morning.

Is ABV forgiven?

It's pretty clear that Chelsea need to get rid of Abramovich.
