Ridiculous, isn't it? You'd think this country would get a few tips from Scandinavia and Canada, wouldn't you?

Half the problem is too many people can't drive

The other half of the problem is too many people feel a need to drive. We are snowed in - well we aren't really in that I have a 4x4 (called "The Tank") that can deal with anything - but normal vehicles can't get out of our village. Today we walked to Tesco (well Claire walked to Tesco & I walked 75% & then went back to the Pub). Modern life which involves driving to the supermarket & filling the boot with out of season vegetables from Zimbabwe may be somewhat disrupted, but civilisation hasn't ground to a halt. Walking works fine. We talk to our neighbours more - just as we did in the last snow 2 years ago. What's the problem?

Much as I hate snow I think we make too much fuss in this country when a couple of inches of snow is on the ground.

As long as you drive carefully or walk wearing wellies and sensible, warm clothes you can cope with it.

(I've recently upgraded to IE10 and it has a spellchecker which corrects everything as you type. It doesn't like the word "wellies" and changed the second letter three times.)

To an "I". The alternative wouldn't have been so bad.
