Billy Elliot

Postby Nick » Wed May 06, 2009 6:44 pm

Last Saturday I went to see Billy Elliot. Again. I saw it 2 years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it, my wife cried all the way through and insisted that we should go and see it again one day, and last Saturday was that day.

Having scoured agencies and the internet we failed to find any cheap tickets and ended up buying them from the Theatre. We went for the Stalls where all the seats are decent seats. I would recommend for advice on tickets and seats.

The play was even better than the last time that I saw it - very much so. This time I cried too. The performance did a much better job of mirroring the social angst of the miner's strike with the personal sorrow of a little boy who misses his mum, and as a consequence the professional stage scenery, and choreography struck home with stark effect.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it. Fabulous!

PS - funnily enough it is leading the race for honours on Broadway too.

If you loved the stage show, I'd recommend watching the film - far more poignant in my opinion.

Just watched Billy Elliot theater show this year. Its the first time I've seen it and I love the show, definitely would buy a DVD copy of the movie. Bought my ticket online too, ... not sure if its one of the cheapest though. If they're gonna have a show here in MN next year, we'll surely watch this again.
