That's the way the world is these days.

BTW if you don't see me around in the near future it's because my gas and electric will have been cut off. I paid the bill a month ago - two days after receiving the account but EDF say it hasn't been paid and unless I pay them another £240 they will cut us off. I refuse to do that on principle because the payment appeared on my bank account with the same reference number I always use for fuel payments.

I got a Bailiff letter only today - why don't they try communicating?

They have communicated. They've sent umpteen reminders and I've sent them two letters. I've had a reply to one - which oddly only dealt with the fact that I mentioned very confusing presentation of accounts. I am still awaiting a response to my second letter.
