Just taken Ask and Galaxy Maps off FILs PC it now runs much quicker even though they are supposed to be IE tool bars.

Have you tried CCleaner

I did have it installed a few months ago but wasn't impressed. I've uninstalled a lot more stuff and it's a bit better but I think I'll probably have to invest in a new PC sometime soon.

No, I haven't yet replaced my PC. I've got used to waiting for three minutes for a page to change now.

My computer is still slow and now often shows message saying I don't have enough resources. Since I seem to have a lot of space left on the HP (C) drive I can only assume it's the other drive that is the problem. Any ideas what I can do?

Lynda,

I think that you only have 1 HDD, and "Drive D:" is actually on C: & is for restoring your PC back to how it was when you bought it.

Do you reboot often? If not I would switch off, and on again.

I would use System Restore to go back to a time when the PC worked well.

Or transfer all your data off the PC and then use the Retore function to set it back to when you bought it (a bit drastic!).

After trying everything I could think of I decided to give up and consider buying a new PC. I had a look around today but couldn't really make up my mind. When I got home I discovered the PC had installed 73 updates whilst I was out. I hadn't been able to install updates for weeks. It's now behaving quite well.

I couldn't do a System Restore to when it was working well because that is so long ago that I don't have any restore points that far back.

If it's fixed - take a Restore Point!

I did. It's still working very well. Better than it has been in well over a year.
