High paying jobs - friends of my daughter earning £50,000 p.a. soon after leaving University.

Lively lifestyle, I love going to London, but I come home exhausted after a couple of days to recuperate!

But in all seriousness

London Smells horrible, and when I come home and sneeze after a couple of days down there there's lots of black crud in the mucus.

And you can't stride out like you can in rural areas, and as to cycling well I thnk it would be suicidal down there.

And the Cost of living is massively higher.

yes wages are more but rent is higher, Food costs more and so on.

When my husband was in Barts Hospital for six weeks I went up to London every day. I have to admit there's something about the place that gets to me.

However, I'm glad I don't even live in a London suburb now. We made a trip back to Buckhurst Hill last week for a funeral and I couldn't wait to get away again.

I love London. I grew up there but moved out in the late '80's because I couldn't afford to buy somewhere to live there.
I do enjoy living in a beautiful part of the country now (Gloucestershire) but if I could afford to I would move back and be near my family and friends again. My roots will always be in London.

When I did live there I used to cycle everywhere including going into central London. I used to cycle to a friend in Victoria and to clubs like Ronnie Scotts. I only got knocked off my bike once and that was on Hammersmith Bridge and I wasn't injured.

In technical terms Hull is where you would put the tube to give the Uk an emema,

actually very few British people want to live in London.

The actual city of London is lovely and I always enjoy a visit but even though I lived in the London area for most of my life I wouldn't want to move back there now.

The Science Museum and Natural History Museum are always worth a visit, although you need more than a day in each.
I think my last visit was 12 years(ish) ago, must be due another :D

I lived there once, I had no choice, however my Mother was born there, and hardly leaves the place. She's very passionate and protective about it.
I think it's a bit like Marmite

I live in South Herts, and work in London. Spent some time working in Herts and got very bored with it.

Would I live in London? No, I'd get depressed without countryside. So ... need London for the regular buzz, but couldn't live there. Part-time commute suits me just fine :D

Rachel,

I agree with you. I love my visits to London, but after 2/3 days I need to go home and recover!

I don't mind London, I had a year of commuting in on the first train of the day from Cambridge and then travelling across town to Orpington.

Since then, its only been brief visits, never more than one or two nights.

I'm just a northern monkey now.
